On the scenic island of Horgo, there are many sheltered coves facing the open sea. This outdoor area was once a small farm, covering approximately 60 acres of infield and outfield land. In 1988, the Friluftsrådet (Outdoor Recreation Council) took over the management of the area. In the south of Austrevågen, you'll find a floating dock and an information board. You can follow the path from the dock to the house. Those renting the coastal heritage house have the right to use a spot at the floating dock in Austrevågen.
There is a spacious and well-protected harbor in Vestrevågen, with good anchoring conditions and mooring bolts. However, when the sea is rough from the west and northwest, entry can be difficult. Wild sheep graze on the island to maintain the cultural landscape. Please be mindful of the animals, especially during lambing season in mid-April. Dogs must be kept on a leash! Outside the outdoor recreation area, Horgo is privately owned. Visitors must respect this and be considerate of private properties.
The farmhouse on the property can be rented by arrangement with the Friluftsrådet.
