Experience North Cape like true explorers by arriving from the sea to Hornvika - the old entrance to the North Cape. There you also can see the unusual and spectacular rock formation, Hornet or Nordkapp Hornet. That was previously a Sami tradition where gifts were given in the hope that they would bring good luck.
For centuries, North Cape has been an iconic destination for adventurous tourists. Until the road was completed in 1956, everyone came to the plateau by sea. In the 19th century, Hornvika, on the eastern side of the plateau became the most-used landing point. From here, visitors had to climb 300 metres (985 feet) up the steep mountain side to get to the plateau at Nordkapp. This tour offers a unique opportunity to follow in their footsteps.
Begin your tour with a scenic drive along the spectacular road from Honningsvåg to Skarsvåg, the northernmost fishing village in the world. Historically, there are several activities related to the landing site at Hornvika – many locals from the area run cafes and stalls here in the summer.
Here, transfer to the harbour, where you will don a survival suit and enter the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). Travel along fjords and rugged arctic scenery – keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife and birds along the way. People arriving by boat to Hornvika cannot avoid noticing the unusual rock formation, Hornet or Nordkapphornet, located just north of Hornvika, where Sami would offer gifts in the hope that they would be rewarded with good fortune.
Your adventure continues with a hike up the path to the North Cape, where you will have approximately one hour to explore at leisure, before returning to Honningsvåg and your awaiting ship by bus.
