Horseback riding excursion Three hours

This tour is conducted by Destination snowman. Go horseback riding in the mountains!

Experience the fantastic nature and the amazing scenery from the horseback. We’ll ride out from Basecamp Snowman in Målselv Mountain Village and into the Mauken massif at about 700 m asl. The terrain is light, and we’ll ride among the lake with a breathtaking view. Our focus is the interaction between horses, nature and humans - it will give you memories for a lifetime.

We mainly use norwegian horse breeds, like the Dole, the Northlands horse and the Fjord horse. They are calm and steady breeds, well adapted for the Norwegian terrain. Along the way you will get to know more about the horses and their personalities, and our guides will tell interesting stories about our endangered horse breeds. Choose between a 3 or 5 hours riding experience. We’ll be riding in small groups with max. 6 participants plus two tour guides. We accept participants from 9 years of age and above, from beginners to experienced horseback riders. Some of the horses carry saddlebags for you to bring your camera or other accessories. All of the necessary equipment is included, but if you have a riding helmet of your own, you are most welcome to bring it along. Part of the experience is a stop along a lake where we’ll serve coffee, tea and some light snacks. If the weather allows, we’ll go swimming - with or without the horses! When we return to Basecamp after the riding excursion, you will participate in the unsaddling and brushing of the horses, and you can of course take your picture together with “your” horse. If you wish to have lunch at Basecamp after the excursion it can be pre-ordered.

We are very concerned with animal welfare and well-being. Our horses are well trained and steady. Our guides are well experienced and skilled.

Equipped horse: Fully equipped horse, helmet and safety vest for the rider.
Snacks: We will serve coffee or tea, and a light snack during the excursion.
Tour guide: Depending on the size of the group, up to two tour guides will participate.
