The House by the Sea is a unique experience, thanks to its scenic location, incredible view and innovative architecture. The three cabins are designed to make your scenic experience an integral part of your holiday accommodation.
Each of the elegant cabins offers a stunning view of the towering peak of Trænstaven (338 m). Depending on the season, you can experience a view of the midnight sun, an autumn storm or the Northern Lights.
The three wood-built units of the House by the Sea were designed by Vardehaugen Architects. The innovative cabins were exhibited at the Oslo Design Fair in 2019, where they drew considerable attention, before being brought to the island of Træna.
The largest cabin, which measures 60 m2 (645 square feet) comfortably accommodates four people. The cabin has a living room with an open kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed, and a sleeping alcove with a bunk bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The large windows in the living room and bedroom provide immersive views of the raw and rugged scenery, and the ever-changing sky and sea. A terrace lines two sides of the cabin.
Each of the two smaller tower-shaped cabins is suitable for two people. You may think of these as Træna’s very elegant version of a tiny house. The bedroom is on the top floor; be advised that access is via a steep, narrow ladder. From your double bed, you have a magnificent view through the large windows. The first floor has a kitchen, small living room and bathroom. Both floors have direct access to the terrace.
The cabins are equipped with custom-made wooden furniture of modern Norwegian design, all of it sustainably produced. In accordance with our efforts to encourage sustainable tourism, we award discounts to guests who choose an extended stay and have chosen eco-friendly travelling by train to Northern Norway. The minimum stay is two nights.
A holiday base at House by the Sea allows you to experience everything Træna has to offer. And a short ride on the local shuttle boat will bring you to the island of Sanna, which offers some of Norway’s finest hiking.
