This tour is conducted by Tromsø Villmarkssenter. Explore the arctic wilderness with a Husky and look for the Northern Lights all night long.
Our center is located 25 minutes away from Tromsø and the city lights, under a dark night sky which is perfect for watching the Aurora. Upon arrival in our campsite, we will provide you with rain clothes and boots to keep you warm and dry. Then we will give you a tour of our dog yard, where you will get to meet and cuddle our huskies and their puppies! Afterwards, you will take some of our dogs for a guided hike through the wilderness surrounding our center. We usually do not give a dog to each guest, as our dogs are strong and trained to pull – most guests are happy to rotate handling them. Be prepared for some exercise! As it starts to get dark, keep your eyes on the sky, as the Aurora Borealis may make an appearance.
Back at our center, there will be a bonfire where you can sit under the stars and look for the northern lights for as long as you like. For dinner, you have the opportunity to try the traditional Norwegian fish dish Bacalao, made with locally sourced cod and served in an authentic Gamme-Hut. Vegetarian options for all meals are available upon prior request.
You will spend the night just as the Sami people have done for generations – on reindeer skins around an open fire in our Lavvo-Tent. The next morning, we will provide you with a nice breakfast and after saying goodbye to our huskies, bring you back to Tromsø.
