The Hvasser-Motel offers 19 cabins and 1 apartement. The cabins are all located in a beautiful garden near the port of Sandøsund on the small island of Hvasser in the community of Tjøme, 25 kilometers south of Norway´s oldest town Tønsberg, right to the "Færder National Park".
Hvasser Motel - location and history
“Fjeldhøi” consist of 19 cabins with beds for 86 people. The cabins is a 100 meter from Sandøsund loshavn in Hvasser, on a small island in Færder, 25 km south of Norway’s oldest town Tønsberg and right by Færder national park, on the outer part of Oslofjord. With a bridge connection with Brøtsø and Tjøme.
The motel is driven by the Schøning-Olsen family third generation. “Fjeldhøi” was built in 1917 by Henrik Torgersen, where the main business was post and phone service. When Sigvart Schøning-Olsen got the estate in 1933, he changed the business to the accommodation sector. In 1936 it was a guesthouse, then in 1978 it was changed to a motel and the annex was torn down.
Cabin and communal area
The cabins are spread out on a 8000 m2 property, with a nice cosy garden with old fruit trees and roses. There is activities such as volleyball and a playground for the children. The beach is 150 m walking distance away, perfect for small children. Grocery store (year round) and different restaurants (open during summer) is 150 m from the motel.
The cabins are 35-40 m2 and all have living room with kitchen, 2 bedrooms with 4-6 beds, bathroom with shower and toilet. The cabins are equipped with kitchen utensils, duvet and pillows (bed covers is for rent), TV, outdoor furniture and barbeque. In the main house there is a communal living room, freezer opportunities and laundry room.
All the cabins have been renovated over the last few years, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Nine cabins are open during the winter as well, and is usually rented over a long period of time.
During the summer the main guest are families that enjoy the summer with sun and beach.
Animals
Cats and dogs are welcome, and Sibylle’s Hundesalong in the main house offers haircuts for your dogs.
Apartment
The apartment for rent is on the dock, only a few meters from the boats. The apartment consist of the entry with a closet, big living room, kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, and a a loft with a closet on the first floor. A parking spot in front of the apartment.
Group activities
Hvasser Motel is perfect for groups, family gatherings and associations, where its possible to rent multiple cabins and the communal living room, where the guest can either have dinner party or have seminars. There is a lot of different activities in Hvasser and Tjøme.Such as scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, bow and arrow, hiking, climbing, horse riding and golf.
During the summer season the quest can rent a boat.
