Ibsenhuset is Skien's cultural center and offers a wide selection of concerts and shows throughout the year, with both national and international guests.
Ibsenhuset is Telemark County's largest cultural center. Throughout the year, we offer a versatile and exciting cultural program—featuring everything from international superstars to local performers on our stages. The venue also serves as a professional and functional center for courses, conferences, trade fairs, meetings, banquets, and special events.
Located in the heart of downtown Skien, Ibsenhuset features eight halls offering a wide range of uses. The Skien Art Association (Skien Kunstforening) has a permanent year-round exhibition in the foyer, complemented by frequent solo and group art exhibitions.
Ibsenhuset offers flexible meeting rooms for both small and large events, ranging from intimate meetings to major congresses.
Ibsenhuset is fully accessible for wheelchair users, providing excellent facilities and accessibility solutions throughout the venue.
After World War II, the need for a new cultural center grew increasingly urgent with each passing year—as did the need for a community hall. Consequently, the plans for two separate buildings were combined into a vision for a multi-purpose facility serving Skien and the broader Grenland region. Thus, the plans for a new cultural center were born. The name came naturally: it could be nothing other than Ibsenhuset.
