Ice climbing course – Level 1 Top Rope

Level 1 is a top roping course offering an introduction to ice climbing. The focus is on the basic skills needed for a pleasant day of ice climbing on frozen waterfalls. This course covers movements, ice climbing techniques, ice tactics, belaying, belay devices, anchors and characteristics of the ice.

The aim of this course is to give the participants a solid platform to take climbing to new heights. The instructors will set up top ropes on different waterfall routes graded WI 2-4. The participants will get to climb a lot and will receive continual feedback and tips from the instructors. The focus will be on developing the solid, basic techniques needed to take the next step towards multi-pitch and lead climbing.

Equipment
Rental of technical climbing equipment: harness, helmet, ice axes, and crampons is included in the price.
Participants who have their own gear and wish to use it on the course are encouraged to do so.
Climbing boots: We have a small selection of winter climbing boots available for rental at an additional price of 250 NOK pr. day. Please enquire if you need to rent boots.
