Idyllic Accommodation in a Nordland House on Dønna
The whole extended family can fit in this beautifully maintained and cozy old Nordland house. Enjoy the summer sun, down by the water or in the large garden, or spend autumn and winter evenings in the warm, inviting living rooms.
The House
The old Nordland house was built in 1920 and has been lovingly preserved. The house offers all the modern comforts we expect, such as comfortable beds, a bathtub, and a fully equipped kitchen. At the same time, the beautiful interior and the idyllic location ensure that the place has a pleasant and authentic atmosphere. There are both a wood stove and a tile stove in the house, and firewood is provided for guests, so you can enjoy the warmth and crackling fire on cool autumn evenings.
Around the house, you have access to a large garden with a terrace and a fire pit, fresh herbs, plenty of seating areas, and a beautiful view of the sea. The fire pit is specially designed for grilling and pit cooking, so you can create a culinary experience beyond the ordinary.
There are a total of 10 sleeping spots in the house, spread across three double rooms and one family room. You have two bathrooms, equipped with showers, bathtubs, a washing machine, and a dryer. The house also has two kitchens: a fully equipped kitchen indoors and a smaller, simpler kitchen right by the outdoor area. Both kitchens have refrigerators with freezers, providing ample space for cooking for many people and for multiple cooks in the kitchen.
The outer hallway and the bathroom connected to it are shared with the occupants of the other accommodation unit, Skrivestua. There is no lock separating the outer hallway from the rest of the house.
Skrivestua - "The writers cabin"
Skrivestua is a cozy accommodation option for two travelers. With easy access to the garden and outdoor areas, and a charming interior, Skrivestua offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. It features a sofa bed that converts into a comfortable double bed. Guests in Skrivestua share access to the outdoor areas with guests in the main house. Skrivestua does not have its own bathroom; instead, guests use the shared bathroom in the house's outer hallway, which is equipped with a shower, toilet, washing machine, and dryer, plus a practical drying room.
Activities
Along with the house, you’ll have access to a canoe and life jackets, which are located at the boathouse just below. On calm days, it’s lovely to paddle in the sheltered bay right below. If you bring a kayak, there are also several nice islands and islets nearby that are great to paddle to. The fresh sea air is good for body and soul, and it can be just as nice to take a stroll along the shore.
The house is within walking distance of the local store and the farm restaurant 3 Kalver.
