The Experience
Getting to Isfjord Radio is an adventure in itself. In winter, arrive by snowmobile, dog sled, or ski, traversing snow-covered landscapes. During summer, embark on a sea safari by boat, gliding past cultural landmarks and Svalbard’s dramatic coastline. With several weekly departures from Longyearbyen, Isfjord Radio is both accessible and delightfully remote.

Cultural Heritage & Sustainability 
In 2023, Isfjord Radio was designated as a protected site by the Norwegian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. Originally established in 1933 to facilitate communication between mainland Norway and Svalbard, the station played a vital role in supporting ships and air traffic in the region. 

Today, Isfjord Radio is both a wilderness hotel and a hub of innovation. The station is part of a groundbreaking pilot project for sustainable energy supply in Arctic areas, achieving an 80% reduction in diesel consumption by harnessing solar energy.
