Island Hopping to Solund, Bulandet and Værlandet is a trip to the westernmost islands in Norway. Traveling by boat you get close to the unique and spectacular scenery on the coast, and you get to experience the everyday life of the people living on the islands.

The municipality of Solund has over 1700 islands, islet and skerries. The local mail boat takes you on a guided tour among these islands, while delivering mail to the people living on the islands. Keep your eyes open and your camera ready during the trip - spotting wild life like the white tailed eagle, seal and otter is a common sight in the area.

After delivering mail the boat makes a stop at the historical trade post Gåsvær, a small island far out at sea. Here you will meet Anne Marie – a local farmer, politician and tourist host. It is accommodation on the island, so if you want you can stay overnight. After the stop at Gåsvær the boat continues North to Bulandet & Værlandet. Here you get off the boat and explore the islands on your own. 6 bridges and a 5 km road connect the many islands, making it perfect for biking! We recommend starting with lunch on the café by the harbour, before renting a bike and exploring the islands. Visit viewpoints, art installations and the local museum or just enjoy the nature!
