Fjord Active - Kayak & Glacier Viewpoint Hike – Tunsbergdalen

About the tour

Join Fjord Active for a full-day adventure combining kayaking on Tunsbergdalsvatnet with a scenic hike to a spectacular glacier viewpoint.

After a safety briefing and introduction to basic paddling techniques, we set off in stable double kayaks across the glacier-fed Tunsbergdalsvatnet. Surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls and untouched nature, we paddle deep into the valley towards the end of the lake.

After approximately 2 hours and 8 km of paddling, we leave the kayaks and continue on foot. A short hike takes us to a secluded viewpoint overlooking Tunsbergdalsbreen, one of the remote glacier arms of Jostedalsbreen National Park.

Here, you can enjoy your lunch, take photos and learn more about the glacier, valley and surrounding nature from your guide. In poor weather, we can take shelter in our lavo.

After the break, we hike back to the kayaks and paddle the same route back to Leirdal. On warm days, there is also an opportunity for a refreshing swim.
