A kayak trip on the Haldenkanalen is an experience that offers varied nature, from sleepy rivers to beautiful lakes, islands and wilderness. On the tour you will pass through historic locks that have been in use for over a hundred years!
Starting in Ørje, you will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful nature at your own pace, paddling through calm waters and taking in the view of the surrounding nature. With our reliable kayaks, you'll have the freedom to navigate through a variety of terrain, including sleepy rivers, lakes and pristine wilderness. The kayaks are foldable so they are easy to carry back to the starting point by bus.
Price per kayak
4 hours NOK 315, (NOK 255 for children under 16)
Rental 19 hours (overnight) NOK 461 From 5 p.m
Day trip or overnight stay
We make arrangements for short and longer trips. If you have limited time you can choose a short day trip, if you want to explore more, you can take an overnight trip in shelters, sleep in a hammock or at a campsite. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit cafes and enjoy the sun while paddling past a diverse range of birds and wildlife. Shelters are free to use, first come, first served.
Whether you are an experienced kayaker or a beginner looking for a fun and unique experience, the Halden Canal offers something for everyone.
All equipment included
Rentals with us include all necessary equipment such as quality kayaks, oars, life jackets and maps, so you can focus on enjoying the experience. We also offer suggested routes and recommended stops, including cafes and other beautiful places.
Wet cards are not needed here
Most rental places require a wet card. A wet card makes sense when you paddle in places with a lot of ship and boat traffic, waves or far from shore. Here there are few boats and short distance to land. Regardless, we take safety seriously. A life jacket is always included in the rent and you will receive instructions if you wish. You must be sober to rent a kayak. Paddling with others and being able to swim further increases security – in case the unlikely happens.
The locks
Through the Haldenkanalen there are three lock places with historical locks. You can choose to paddle through these, or you can carry the kayak around. In any case, it is an experience to see the locks in action.
