Northern Norway Troms og Finnmark NORDKAPP

King crab & seafood factory tour

  •  /  km From You

During this fun and educational tour you will learn all about the number 1 industry in the North Cape municipality. Fishing has always been the main source of income for the local population.

As the largest exporter of live king crabs worldwide, our hosts prefer the term seafood factory instead of fish factory. The red king crab is considered a delicacy in many countries around the globe and even in Norway prices for this enormous crustacean can be quite steep.
Your guide will take you around the entire factory and tell you about the production of stockfish, klipfish, fresh fish, king crab and less common items such as roe, liver, fish heads and much more.
Make sure to wear sturdy (waterproof) footwear and keep your camera ready for a close encounter with a king crab.

3 reasons to book now:
- Learn about the production of stockfish, one of the most important products in the history of the Norwegian economy.
- Get up close with the infamous king crab. This 'monster of the Barents Sea' is a popular delicacy worldwide and is shipped alive across the oceans.
- Experience first-hand what local life is all about. North Cape is a traditional fishing community and even the smallest villages have their own fish factory.
