Kjøsterudjuvet

Kjøsterudjuvet

Kjøsterudjuvet, a 10,000-year-old gorge, is a natural wonder of national significance. The 1,300-meter-long fissure in the mountain, with an elevation gain of 250 meters, is a sight to behold. The vertical walls, reaching up to 60 meters, and the gorge's width of 8 to 15 meters, create a unique and awe-inspiring landscape. Hiking up Kjøsterudjuvet offers a captivating nature experience, with its lush vegetation and extraordinary atmosphere. It's an adventure that will pique the curiosity of children, who can enjoy climbing and scrambling over rocks on the way up.

Alternatively, there are trails on each side of the gorge. Once at the top, the beautiful area by Gamledammen is a great place to enjoy a packed lunch. Many choose the easier route back down via the Drammen Activity Park (Skimore Drammen/Drammen Climbing Park). Kjøsterudjuvet is located in Åssiden, parallel to the ski resort, just a 10-minute bus ride from the city centre.
