Klepp Fortification

Klepp Fortification

At the southwestern tip of Vestre Bokn, are the remains of a German fortress from World War II. Thea area offers hiking opportunities and great view of the mighty sea.

Here are the remains of bunkers, ammunition storage, trenches, gun sites, field hospital, officer barracks, crew barracks, the roadside check point and much more. Together with Fjøløy Fort in the south and the fortification in Skudeneshavn in the west, the Germans were able to block the seaward approach to both the Boknafjord and the Karmsund strait. The area is easily accessible on foot and by bicycle.
