At the fortress you will find one of Norway's most exciting and unique function rooms.
Kongshallene (The King's halls), with its vaults, was built within a 20 year period, completed in 1666.
The halls were used as camps for the soldiers, and could accommodate as many as 450 in the three vaults. The halls were restored in 1989, and two years later began being used as function rooms.
The King's halls is the place to be for large events, and are widely recognised outside of Halden.
Here you will eat as they did in the 1700's - without knife and fork!
