Korgfjellet Lodge
Come and stay right in the heart of a beautiful mountain area, in the heart of Helgeland. From Korgfjellet Lodge, you have a beautiful hiking area right outside your cabin door, both in summer and winter. Perfect for those who want to go hiking or skiing, fish in mountain lakes, hunt, or pick berries.
Korgfjellet Lodge is part of Korgfjellet Fjellstue Lodge, located along the old E6, at the top of Korgfjellet between Mo i Rana and Mosjøen. The beautiful, new cabins are situated at approximately 550 meters above sea level. Here, you’ll find beautiful and easily accessible terrain for hiking, fishing, and hunting in the summer and fall, as well as snow-sure, excellent areas for cross-country skiing or backcountry skiing in the winter and spring.
Cabins
Korgfjellet Lodge has a total of 6 cabins, each accommodating five people spread across two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, and the other bedroom has a family bunk bed with a double bed below and a single bunk above. The cabins feature a private, sheltered veranda, a cozy seating area with a TV, a private bathroom, and a simple but fully equipped kitchen. They are well-suited for families with children, couples, or groups of friends.
The nearest grocery store is just a short 15-minute drive away in the village of Korgen. Additionally, during Easter and summer, there is food service available at Korgfjellet Fjellstue Lodge, located right next to the cabins. The specialty here is good old-fashioned home-cooked meals with local ingredients such as lamb from Helgeland, salmon from Lovund, and the traditional flatbread called kamkake. And of course, they also offer staple family favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, and waffles.
Just outside the cabins, you have access to a prepared bathing pool, with a sauna available for rental.
Hikes in the mountain area
Korgfjellet is a beautiful mountain area, and the terrain from the cabins is right at the tree line between 500 and 700 meters above sea level. Here you can walk among blueberry marshes and scattered mountain birch forests, up to flat and easy-to-walk “bare mountains” with a beautiful view of Okstindan and the surrounding mountain areas. There are several marked hiking trails starting right by the cabins, which are equally suitable for both a family’s 3-year-old and a 93-year-old.
In the summer, it’s also a short distance to attractions such as Rabothytta and Helgelandstrappa, and it’s possible to take a day trip to De Syv Søstre and the Svartisen glacier.
In winter, Korgfjellet offers snow-sure skiing terrain, with great opportunities for both cross-country skiing and mountain skiing. Around Easter, cross-country ski tracks are prepared right by the cabins, and there are snowmobile trails that are easy to follow with mountain skis throughout the year.
Much of the mountain is on Statskog’s land, so it’s possible to get both fishing permits and hunting permits for the area.
