Kråkenes lighthouse

Kråkenes lighthouse is located on a plateau 45 masl and surrounded by the sea. When the storm is raging at its worst, waves and sea spray knocks on the window to let you know that it is best to stay indoors. The lighthouse has its own weather station that sends data to the Metrological Institute. This is perhaps one of the places in Norway that is most visited along our coast. Kråkenes lighthouse was founded by the Norwegian coastal administrion in 1906 and is located by the Stad ocean. With the North Sea as the nearest neighbour you can get an experience that will take your breath away. Taste the crispy salt water and feel the ocean air from the plateau, 45 metres above sea level. The lighthouse is today leased to the Ytre Nordfjord Turlag, which is under the Norwegian Tourist Association (DNT)
