Krokan

Krokan Turisthytte was built in 1868 and is situated right next to the Rjukan waterfall. The cabin has been restored and now serves as a museum in its own right.
Rjukanfossen quickly became known as one of Europe's greatest natural attractions.
As early as the 1800s, tourists came to the site to be both awed and frightened by the mighty waterfall.
Krokan Tourist Cabin was built in 1868 and is located right by the falls.
This is the Norwegian Trekking Association’s (DNT) first tourist cabin.
Norsk Hydro took over the cabin and Rjukanfossen in 1905, making it the company’s very first property. From this major tourist initiative of the 19th century, you can now walk along trails to the top of the gorge, see the old tennis court, and find remnants of the billiard hall on the edge of the ravine. You’ll also find the statue of Claus Helberg here.
Krokan Tourist Cabin offers two charming log cabins from the 16th–17th centuries, each with four beds, available for rent.
