Krossbu Turisthytte is idyllically located along Sognefjellsvegen in Lom, and is a popular starting point for mountain trips both on skis and on foot—to Smørstabbtindane, Smørstabbrean, and Bøverbrean in Jotunheimen.

Krossbu Turisthytte was established in 1901 and is one of the oldest tourist lodges in the country. The lodge is located at 1,267 meters above sea level along Northern Europe’s highest mountain pass; Fv. 55.

Krossbu is a privately owned tourist lodge offering accommodation, food service, and camping. From here, there are also marked routes to Skogadalsbøen, Sognefjellshytta, and Fannaråken. Activities in the area include summit hikes, glacier hiking, fishing, and cross-country ski training on Sognefjellet.

Krossbu is surrounded by glaciers and mountains and is an excellent base for mountain trips to the peaks of the Smørstabbtind massif (you can look straight up at the summit of Store Smørstabbtinden from the living-room window), glacier hiking on the blue ice of Smørstabbrean, and hiking in summer. Here you can try your luck fishing in beautiful mountain lakes and go mountain hikes in varied terrain—on marked trails, short or long, just as you prefer!

The season runs from Easter to mid-September, as the road over Sognefjellet is usually closed for winter from around November/December to April/May.
