KulTur = Bike + Canoe + guide - A trip you'll never forget along Rakkestad river

For over 25 years, Atelier Sandstø Kjøll has delighted many with its art and creativity.
Join us on an adventurous journey by bike and canoe through the cultural landscape of Rakkestad. Meet at Rakkestad station, then cycle along pleasant country roads beside the Rakkestadelva river.
You will meet at Rakkestad station, where you will be welcomed by our local guide for the day, Øystein Kjøll. We will cycle from the town center into the cultural landscape along pleasant small roads and paths. On the way, we will pass old settlements on our way to Førrisdal old school, where Atelier Sandstø Kjøll has its gallery. Here we will enjoy art and culture, and they will serve us coffee and homemade treats. Atelier Sandstø Kjøll is a cultural institution that has delighted many with its art and creativity for 30 years, both nationally and internationally. Their gallery is a pleasure to wander around, and you may even find your dream painting here.
It will be a pleasant art purchase, and as they say: Art is a gift for life. We fill up our water bottles and continue our journey to Gjøby Mill. The canoes are ready, and you will receive a brief introduction to technique and safety from today's guides, who now include artist Kari Sandstø Kjøll.
Our safari along the unique Schieselva river / Rakkestad river is ready and waiting. This is one of Østfold's most beautiful rivers for paddling. We can promise you a great time, guides with good stories, and a high Gaus, Roms, and Brummunddal factor! (norwegian TV characters) Paddling in the narrow, winding river between steep mountain slopes in a tunnel of old, large trees is something very special. The silence is broken by the loud flapping of heron wings, grazing deer, and chirping birds. Along the way, you will see trees where beavers have completed or partially completed their gnawing project. The river opens up, and we paddle across Ertevannet to idyllic Strandøya (Beachisland). Here you get a well-deserved break, and you may want to take a swim.
Guides Kari and Øystein prepare a hot lunch with local cultural food from Brødrene Ringstad, drinks from Askim Berrypress, and homemade baked goods. There will be stories about Strandøya, and lunch is enjoyed outdoors on this gem of an island. We travel back the same way, feeling good and full from good food and great experiences.
