Lågvassbua (cabin)

Lågvassbua, under the management of Steinkjer kommuneskoger - Ogndalsbruket KF, is a cabin that offers accommodation for up to 6 individuals. It is nestled in the Skjækra conservation area, not far from the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. The geographical midpoint of Norway is also in close proximity, making it a natural attraction for avid hikers.

Spanning 30 square meters, the cabin comprises 1 bedroom and provides high-quality accommodation. It is divided into two sections, with one half available for reservation and the other open to hikers without prior bookings.

A well-marked path from the parking area leads directly to the cabin, with approximately 70% of the path consisting of continuous railway sleepers.

Lågvassbua is nestled in a remote and picturesque setting, offering breathtaking vistas of Lågvatnet (lake) to the south, Lågvassfjellet (mountain) to the west, and the majestic "Skækerhatten" to the east. The mountainous terrain is uncomplicated and well-suited for hiking.

Fishing and Hiking:
For enthusiasts of hunting, fishing, exploring cloudberry marshes, and engaging in outdoor recreational activities, this location is a genuine paradise.

Cabin rental includes access to a boat housed in a nearby boathouse. Fishing with a rod and otter traps in all lakes within the Steinkjer municipality's property is free for cabin occupants. Moreover, tenants are permitted to set up to 3 fishing nets in Lågvatnet at no additional cost, with fishing nets and an ice drill available within the cabin.

A multitude of well-marked trails and hiking destinations, including the Norway Geographic Midpoint near Skjækervatnet, are easily accessible.

Key Pickup:
Keys can be collected from the reception at Steinkjer Town Hall in Steinkjer, available between 08:00 and 15:30, or from Innherred Tourist Office in Steinkjer, open between 08:30 and 16:00 from Monday to Friday. Alternative arrangements for key collection during nighttime hours can be made by appointment.

Directions:
Starting from Steinkjer (City Hall), travel 42 km in the direction of Ogndal along RV 762, staying on the main road until you reach the spacious parking area at Krokbekken. From there, the cabin is accessible on foot.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the rental agreement begins will incur a minimum 10% charge. Cancellations made less than 30 days but more than 15 days before the rental agreement starts will incur a 25% charge. Cancellations made less than 15 days but more than 3 days before the rental agreement starts will incur a 50% charge. Cancellations made less than 3 days before the rental agreement begins will not be eligible for a refund.
