Lårdal Treetop cabins
Welcome to Lårdal treetop cabins in Telemark. Here you can lay yourself down to the starry sky and swaying treetops and wake up to birdsong and wildlife.
Near the small farm Tvigyva in Lårdal, Telemark, you’ll find two completely unique accommodation experiences: a luxurious treehouse 8 meters above the ground, and Norway’s first treetop igloo of its kind. Karoline and Magnus welcome guests both to the farm and up in the treetops.
Luxurious Treehouse for 6 People
The treehouse, called Elvehytta, is built in a beautiful Nordic style with integrated furniture and can comfortably sleep 6 people. It is constructed in the trees right above Lårdalsåi, which flows into Lake Bandak. This truly luxurious treehouse features a full kitchen, a composting toilet, a loft, a sleeping alcove, and a sitting area.
The Enchanting Treetop Igloo
Norway’s first treetop igloo of its kind is located in a forest setting at the top of a valley, just a 5-minute walk from the parking area. Here, you’ll stay 5 meters above the ground, with a trickling stream right beneath you. For those seeking even more spectacular views, the scenic “Kapteinsrenna” circular route is easily accessible nearby. This unique treetop igloo, which hovers among the trees, can accommodate up to 4 people. It is situated close to a river where you can swim both in summer and winter and offers a fantastic view that can be enjoyed up close. The igloo does not have electricity or running water, but a 5-liter container of drinking water will be available upon arrival, and there is an outhouse nearby. A wood stove is your source of heat during your stay, and you have unlimited firewood available. This is a beautiful back-to-nature experience where you can enjoy the luxury of a hotel room with a 360-degree view of nature. Book the igloo here.
Starry Skies, Birdsongs, and Wildlife
Admire the starry skies and swaying treetops through the skylights, and wake up to the sound of wildlife and the river through the panoramic windows. The Norwegian wilderness in rural Norway offers many wildlife encounters; here, you may see moose, deer, roe deer, foxes, hares, squirrels, and a rich birdlife, making this an unforgettable experience. The couple regularly sees squirrels on their veranda, where they feed the birds.
Activities at Lårdal Treetop Cabins
Karoline and Magnus also offer activities ranging from boat trips with fishing and “eagle safaris” to dog sledding, gardening courses, and nature therapy with a sauna. Lårdal Treetop Cabins is open all year round.
