Overview

About Landåsbygda kirke
Landåsbygda church was built in 1965 by the drawings of architect Per Nordan. The church sports a separate tower and polygonal main building connected by a roof covered passage, which actually is quite common for such rectangular- or fan-shaped churches. Landåsbygda is however known for the development of a more sacral inspired main chamber nearing the end of the 20th century.

Landåsbygda church still retain a uniform interior dating back to the building period, the walls are free of paint while the ceiling is blue. The altar slate is from the 17th century and was originally located in the old Fluberg church. It spans two floors and depicts Jesus surrounded by his disciples as the main painting as well as the resurrection across the top part. Its wings is richly carved with everyday people as well as angels and decorative leaf patterns.

The fact that Landåsbygda is a wooden long-church built in the aftermath of the war is actually a little bit special as the majority of the 600 post-war churches built in the 19th century is brick constructions.
