Landegode Lighthouse

The island of Landegode lies just off Bodø and is a beautiful natural gem, both when bathed in the light of the midnight sun in summer, and when the northern lights lend lustre to the island in winter.

In this island realm we find the world’s biggest and densest population of white-tailed eagles, and these magnificent birds are an impressive sight as they take off from their nests and dive down towards the fjord to catch fish.
Landego Lighthouse was erected in 1901 in order to secure the seaward approach to Bodø from the Lofoten Islands. Today the lighthouse has been automated and is in full operation. It is possible to spend the night in both the lighthouse keeper’s and the assistant’s quarters.
