Lillehammer | a destination for Cross-country Skiing
Lillehammer's trails are linked to the Sjusjøen and Nordseter network which continues further into the mountains.
Birkebeineren Ski Stadium is a natural starting point for cross-country ski trips in the Lillehammer area. Access is easy, either by bus or car (parking fee). The stadium is a 700-metre walk/ski-trip from the bus stop (road or ski trail). It is also possible to ski from Lillehammer town centre, snow conditions permitted.
Way-marking in the region is good, with maps of the cross-country maps at all major junctions. However, it is important to pay attention to where you are and to plan ahead as there are numerous trails to choose between.
Here are some recommended trips with Birkebeineren Ski Stadium as starting point.
Accommodation in Lillehammer city
Public transport
There is a bus running several times daily from Lillehammer Skysstasjon to "Birkebeineren Skistadion Nordsetervegen". For up-to-date timetables, we recommend using the national route planner Entur (also available as app: Entur for IOS and Entur for Android).
Skisporet.no offers a map on which the various trails are displayed, and provides real-time data on track grooming
Skisporet.no covers most of the region’s trail network, and offers up-to-date grooming status. Details on altitude and length are also provided.
We also recommend downloading the Skisporet app, as this will show your location in the trail network when the GPS function on your phone is activated (Skisporet for IOS and Skisporet for Android).
