Lillehammer Art Museum is located in a unique building designed by Snøhetta, in the centre of Lillehammer. The permanent collection comprises Norwegian visual art from the 1830s up until today, and the museum also presents temporary exhibitions featuring Norwegian and international art.
Lillehammer Art Museum is one of Norway’s leading art museums. The collection consists of over 1500 works dating from the 19th century to the present day. Part of the collection is always on show.
The museum building was designed by Snøhetta for the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994.
The museum shows several special exhibitions per year, both with historical art and contemporary art. In the autumn and winter of 2021/2022, the Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, fills Lillehammer Art Museum with spectacular installations, fashion and video.
The exhibition "(PLEASE!) CLEAN UP, HONEY" is the largest and most complete exhibition of Vibskov ever, and it is only shown in Lillehammer Art Museum.
Vibskov has created large installations that are custom-made for the architecture of the museum. In addition, a cross-section of selected projects within fashion, art and various ballets, operas and performances is highlighted.
The audience can climb an eight meter high tower, with a meditation room at the top. You may also try on a Vibskov garment, make your own Vibskov paper clip figures and sit down in a movie box and watch various of his catwalks and stage performances.
The Museum Shop - The museum shop sells art books and Norwegian decorative art objects.
The Museum Cafe - The museum café sells lunch dishes and a wide choice of freshly baked bread and cakes.
