Literature cruise with the Literature boat Epos

Experience the beautiful Hardangerfjord on the legendary Literature boat Epos.

The day starts from Rosendal (corresponding with the Hardangerfjord Express from Bergen), and Epos moves slowly up the fjord. On the journey, you have the opportunity to take in the surroundings, and since this is a literature cruise, you also get the chance to see the hometown of Nobel Prize winner Jon Fosse from the sea.

Along the way, you can enjoy local food and drinks on board, and visit the bookshop on the boat. The boat docks in Norheimsund and Øystese, where you can disembark and explore the activities awaiting you.

When you return to Rosendal, the possibilities are many. Here you can go for a hike from fjord to mountain, visit the Barony Rosendal, learn about the origins of the Hardangerfjord at the Folgefonna Center. There are several accommodation options in Rosendal, perhaps a night at the very Avlsgården at the Barony.

Wednesdays:

Every Wednesday, Epos also stops in Strandebarm on its way in and out of the fjord. Strandebarm is the hometown of Jon Fosse, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2023. Here, the boat docks at Strandebarm Marina, where there is a beach and a café nearby, as well as sports facilities and hiking opportunities. 2 km further into the village, you will find Fosse, where Jon Fosse grew up. Here is also the Fosse house, with exhibitions and a small Fosse shop.
