From the fjord to the mountain in five minutes
Loen Skylift is a cablecar and one of the steepest in the world, it lifts people from the fjord in Loen to the mountain Hoven (1011 meters) in five minutes. At the top is Hoven Restaurant with 350 seats. The facility is part of a year-round nature-based experience arena designed for active explorers as well as families with children. Loen Skylift and Hoven Restaurant were opened by Queen Sonja on May 20, 2017.
From the fjord building the ascent starts with a rail to the mountain Hoven (1011 meters above sea level). After a few minutes of airy flight, you arrive at Hoven Restaurant where you get a 210 degree panoramic view overlooking Skåla and Lovatnet in the east, Jostedalsbreen National Park and Olden in the south, and out the Nordfjorden which curves further towards Stryn in the west. From Hoven you can experience the mountain mountain on your own in an extensive hiking paths or with a guide. On foot or skiing. There are many possibilities.
Hoven is available all year round, and in winter you can ski, ski or toboggan in the groomed toboggan runs. The top tour enthusiasts save 1000 meters in height and can start on the mountain. Take a walk in nice hiking trails, and in the winter the cross-country tracks. Make sure the conditions are right. After the trip, the spectacular Hoven Restaurant with high mountain food and drinks is tempting.
Take the Loen Skylift to the top of Hoven, and take a trip inland. Good paths that are signposted and labeled provided the security and energy to experience the high mountains. Or maybe a climb for your own machine in Via Ferrata Loen is enough for you?
An old rain says that Hoven has his name after Odin's horse Sleipner, who, on a trip across the mountain, broke his hoof and left the powerful imprint on the mountain side that is so clear to see today. No one knows if it is completely true, but what is absolutely certain is that the view up here is as powerful and magical as it was before. The difference is that now they are accessible to absolutely everyone - not just old gods and talking mountain people.
