Lofoten Birding

Discover the birds and wildlife of Norway’s Lofoten Islands with Charles Post—a U.C. Berkeley trained ecologist, bird bander, award-winning conservation filmmaker, and Swarovski Optik ambassador. Charles brings over a decade of ecological research experience, a Master's in Ecology from UC Berkeley and committee membership to the International Union For the Conservation of Nature, and a storyteller’s eye honed through years of award-winning filmmaking, photography and storytelling.

Charles blends science, photography and storytelling in a way that makes each moment in the field both educational and deeply moving. With his extensive background in conservation and sustainability—including work with the World Wildlife Fund, Rolex's Perpetual Planet Initiative, and BirdLife International—Charles offers a rare opportunity to explore Lofoten with someone whose life’s work is devoted to understanding and protecting the wild.

These private birdwatching and wildlife photography trips are designed to immerse you in the rhythms of nature and the hidden wonders of Lofoten—far from the crowds and tourist trails. Whether by foot, sailboat, or motorboat, each trip is customized to reveal the archipelago’s most pristine and biodiverse corners.

Depending on the season, you'll have the chance to observe an incredible array of Arctic and migratory species, including Eurasian curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, white-tailed sea eagles, arctic terns, ringed plovers, white-throated dippers, arctic skuas, ring ouzels, and the striking northern wheatear—among many others. These landscapes also hold the potential for encounters with orcas, porpoise, otters, and even moose, offering a well-rounded wildlife experience. If you book a multi day trip, it's possible to take a boat offshore to search for gannets, puffins, razorbills, guillemots, storm petrels, great skuas and other pelagic seabirds.

Available year-round. If you’re looking for a one of a kind stay and nature retreat, you can book your private retreat experience with us at arcticdreamsretreats.com and connect with @charles_post on Instagram.
