Møysalen – selected in 2009 as Norway's Most Splendid Natural Experience.
If you are in good physical shape and have experience trekking in the mountains, this is the trip for you! The trip takes about ten hours, including a 30-minute boat ride to the tour's starting point and another 30 minutes for the return.
Magnificent natural surroundings greet you, from green valleys to rocky inclines and snow-covered glaciers. This trip is somewhat challenging and should be done with an experienced guide.
The view on a clear day is fantastic! The trip begins at Hennes in Hadsel municipality. You start at sea level and wind up at 1262 metres above sea level.
You will not need any extra equipment when you take the Møysalen excursion with a guide. However, you should bring along good, comfortable mountain boots/trekking shoes. You also need outdoor clothing that is rain and wind-resistant. Woolen hat and mittens. Food and drink for a day's outing. There are ample opportunities to refill water during the trip.
How does one get to the rally point?
To get to Hennes, take RV 822, also known as the Møysalen Road. From Sortland, the drive is about 40 min. It is best to come by private vehicle because there is little public transport in this area.
You can find rooms/rorbu cabins/houses for hire at Hennes, or you can spend the night in a tent or camper caravan at the local campsite. Sites are limited, so you should reserve in advance.
Keys are issued by prior appointment with the campsite's contact person. All accommodation includes bedlinen and towels.
Bring along whatever food you need. Hotplates and refrigerators are included in all overnight facilities. There is a food shop at Hennes, open between the hours of 09.00–16.30.
All additional requests should be made to the contact person.
The trip can be cancelled for poor weather conditions. A minimum of 6 participants is required. (There may also be a minimum price per person).
