Marked ski trails in Suldal

Suldal in Ryfylke comes to life in a new guise during the winter. Here you'll find 70 km of marked ski trails of varying length and difficulty.

With charming villages and some of the highest mountains in Rogaland, Suldal is the perfect winter destination. You can get from the villages to the ski slopes in the mountains in less than 30 minutes, and there's a wide range of activities and fun for the whole family.

Breiastøldalen valley

In Breiastøldalen you can try the road towards Sandsaosen for a 10 km hike with no major changes in altitude metres and gradient (category green).

It's also great to turn right along the mountain edge towards Langeli, where there is often less wind (category blue).

More experienced skiers can take the round trip around Reinsheia, totalling 13 km (category red).

You can also take the 8-kilometre Skuteheia tour (category red).

Reinsheia

The 13-kilometre trip over Reinsheia is a fantastic round trip for the more experienced skier. Here you get right up to the high moor and get the feeling of having the mountain all to yourself. The tour starts in Breiastølsdalen towards Sandsa. Just before the last bend down towards the water, turn left upwards around a rocky knoll on a twisted trail. From here you continue steadily uphill into the mountain before starting on Bakkane downhill (category red).

Hedlebrekk

The light trail at Hedlebrekk is a total of 2.5 km and goes inwards towards Fjellbergskardet (category blue). You can also make this a longer tour of 6.5 kilometres (category blue).

The more experienced skier can embark on a long hike from this area to the Vaneheia mountain area for a 16 km hike (category red) or the summit hike to Natlandsnuten for 14 km out and back (category red).

Mosvatnet ski area

From the ski hut by the car park at Mosvatnet ski area, there is a light trail that makes a nice round trip. It provides a great experience on skis, even after the sun has set. The trail totals 3.3 km (category blue), with a children's route taking up 1 km of this round trip (category green).

More experienced skiers can extend the trail to a more demanding 7.5 kilometres towards Hedlebrekk (category blue) or the 8 kilometres around Mosvatnet (category blue).

You can also take the trail towards Vaneheia (category red) or the summit hike up to Natlandsnuten (category red) from this area.

Natlandsnuten

The hike to Natlandsnuten (965 masl) starts at the entrance to the Hedlebrekk ski area and light trail, and is one of the finest summit hikes in Suldal. The tour is ideal on white piste for the more experienced skier. The tour takes 4-5 hours at a steady pace in rising terrain.

Hamrabø

Hamrabø is a private ski area where skiing is organised from the time the snow settles until Easter. A great trail close to the villages.

Winter activities

If you don't want to go cross-country skiing, you can take the family on a skiing lesson, whizz down the slalom slope at Gullingen or try a summit tour where you sometimes get the feeling of being all alone on top of the world.
