Matgarasjen, Dun Gård
Dun Gård aims to produce food of the very best quality, and that animals and people should be well. In Matgarasjen, we offer food made from scratch, and as far as possible with local ingredients.
Exciting guest chefs often stop by, which puts their distinctive stamp on the menu. In the farm shop we have products from the farm and other local food producers. We have a market garden and cooperative agriculture, and in the farm shop we sell our own beef and vegetables, herbs and other edible plants, together with exciting goods from other producers.
Those who visit us are guests in the restaurant, members of the cooperative agriculture on the farm, are here on work experience and on courses, or shop for meat, herbs and vegetables - and care about where the food they eat comes from. Our goal is to produce food of the very best quality, and for animals and people to feel good. We have cattle breeds that are known for good fat marbling and extra good taste. The animals roam freely when they want, and when they are not grazing, they only get roughage produced on the farm. We grow many different kinds of vegetables and potatoes, herbs and other edible plants, and get eggs from the Icelandic hens that roam freely in the forest by the stream. We are concerned with living soil, and have chosen to grow organically, without chemicals or artificial fertilisers. In addition to the market garden and sales from the farm, Dun Andelslandbruk is located on the farm. And in the summer of 2023, we opened the "Food Garage", which has made it possible for us to get the good ingredients from the farm to the table. In Matgaranje there is also a 24-hour, self-service farm shop. At the weekends, we invite you to the market, where there is a sale of freshly harvested vegetables in season, perhaps a second-hand market, concerts, exhibitions and other things. The grandmother's house is situated on a small farmyard all by itself in the countryside, surrounded by fields, mountains and a beautiful cultural landscape. Here there are 8 beds spread over four rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen where you can cook your own food. Dun Feriehus can be rented through AirBNB.
