Meland Golf is known for being one of Norway’s toughest courses – but also one of the most rewarding. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton famously said:

“Today I have played one of the most beautiful and difficult golf courses ever. And if you are going to be humiliated on a golf course, you should do it in such beautiful surroundings as Meland.”

And Norwegian golf star Viktor Hovland, when asked about Norway’s most difficult hole on the "Fore!" podcast, replied: “Hole 3 at Meland is pretty wild. Last time I played there I hit 9-iron, 4-iron, then 6-iron – haha!”

The course tests both precision and strategy, featuring:

PING and Karsten Solheim’s Connection to Meland Golf

Meland Golf has a close partnership with PING, the golf brand founded by Karsten Solheim. Born in Austrheim, just outside of Meland, Solheim emigrated to Seattle with his family at a young age. A trained engineer, he started playing golf at 42 after being invited by colleagues at General Electric. Struggling on the greens, he invented a revolutionary putter – laying the foundation for PING’s global success.
Each year, Meland Golf hosts the Karsten Memorial Ping Tournament – a major event we are incredibly proud of, attracting up to 500 players over three competition days. The Solheim family visits Meland for this special weekend, celebrating Karsten’s legacy and contribution to the world of golf.

Meland Golf warmly welcome individual players and groups alike. For groups of more than 8 people, we recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred tee time.

How to get to Meland Golf Club:

It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Bergen city centre to Meland. Follow the E39 north from Bergen and then Fv564. Free parking is available. By bus, the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Timetables can be found at Skyss.no.

Transport to Meland Golf Club, fixed price from Bergen with Nordhordland Taxi:    

Passenger car for 1–4 people.
Weekdays: NOK 1650
Weekends and public holidays: NOK 2100

9-seater minibus. 8 passenger seats. (Recommended for groups of more than three passengers)

Meland Golf Club currently does not offer accommodation, but has an agreement with the nearest hotel, Alver Hotel, which offers "golf rates."

Bookings are made via the national booking system Golfbox. For international visitors who do not have a Golfbox profile, you can book by email or phone. The prices are then the following:

• Green fee weekdays: NOK 950
• Green fee weekends: NOK 1200
• Golf cart rental: NOK 490 per round
• Rental clubs: NOK 250 per round
