"The contrasts are perhaps the most fascinating with the Jostedalsbreen glacier, which I experienced from the helicopter ride. From lush countryside and bright blue fjords to snow-covered mountain peaks over 2,000 meters up on the glacier plateau. The tallest mountain near the glacier is Lodalskåpa 2083 meters above sea level. Jostedalsbreen is a temperate glacier, a glacier which water flows under and the glacier is at the melting point. Since it is temperate, it erodes on the substrate and can move ". Fred Syversen
Melkevollsbreen glacier lies approximately in the middle of Jostedalsbreen, and extends down to Oldedalen. Highest point on the arm protrudes 1731 meters above sea level.
