Perhaps the best location in Sandnes for outdoor life. Plenty of opportunities for training and skiing on the lighted trails, 8 km. Tour roads that are well suited for baby carriages and wheelchairs. There is also an extensive network of smaller trails. Some of the trails continue into the Rogaland Arboretum. Rich bird and wild life. Good opportunities for picking berries and muschrooms in the autumn.
Archeological excavations show that this area was populated long time ago.
Each year a special map for 10 tours in Melshei for the family is published. Each tour has a letter that forms a word in Norwegian and you can get a prize after 5 or 10 tours.
