Mikal L. Klovning was a herring fisherman until 1955, when the herring fisheries came to an end. In contrast to other people, Klovning believed the herring would return. He therefore took excellent care of the boathouse and fishing equipment, and thus helped to preserve an important part of Utsira's cultural heritage. At present the boathouse is part of Karmsund Folkemuseum and exhibits fishing gear and boats from the rich herring period in Utsira. Open by arrangement.
