The Mjølkevegen cycling route stretches between Vinstra in Gudbrandsdalen and Gol in Hallingdal, passing through the northern and western Valdres region. It’s been voted one of the nicest cycling routes in Norway, and for good reason. This route will take you to some of the most beautiful mountain areas in Norway and best of all, the roads are almost free for traffic and mainly gravel. We recommend starting/ending at either Storefjell Resort Hotel (Gol) or Ruten Fjellstue (Espedalen/Vinstra). There are pick-up services available from the train station. The tour will take approx. 4-6 days depending on level and experience and since there are many other attractions and activities along the way, you may decide to stay an extra night in some areas. Many accommodation businesses along the route have formed cooperation in order to give our guests the best Mjølkevegen experience.
If you want to cycle the entire route and do your own planning, the Valdres tourist Office can help you! The route has some challenging sections and is not recommended for beginner cyclists or young children. We’ll help put together the best day to day experience package and recommend stops for accommodation, meals and attractions.
