The Mjølkevegen cycling route stretches between Vinstra in Gudbrandsdalen and Gol in Hallingdal, passing through the northern and western Valdres region. It’s been voted one of the nicest cycling routes in Norway, and for good reason. This route will take you to some of the most beautiful mountain areas in Norway and best of all, the roads are almost free for traffic and mainly gravel. It's a long route, and some parts are demanding and therefore not recommended for children/inexperienced cyclists, but there are several cycling friendly accommodations, places to eat and lots to explore along the way. We therefore recommend you to take you time and explore the differente areas. Duration: 4 - 6 days (depending on level and experience).
From the train station in Vinstra to the train station in Gol, the route is approx. 250 km. However, you can be transported from Vinstra to the first accommodation, Ruten Fjellstue (in Espedalen) and like wise in the other end of the route, you can be transportet by bus/car from Storefjell Resort Hotel to the train station in Gol. This will shorten the route down to approx. 195 km. (Must be pre-booked). The alternative summer route (Vinstra -Bygdin - Eidsbugarden - Tyinkrysset - Syndin Vaset - Gol) is approx. 270 km / 215 km.
