This museum's operations stretch across the entire length of lake Mjøsa. The museum documents and presents the history of the local people and landscape. Guided tours during the summer and by appointment. We tailor special events for our visitors!

Mjøsmuseet
Mjøsmuseet manages and presents the history of six wonderful properties and museum sites on the western side of Lake Mjøsa. The administrative offices and documentation centre are located at Kapp Milk Factory, while the operations department and the photo and object storage facilities are based at Eiktunet in Gjøvik.

All sites are open to the public during school holidays, and we welcome pre-booked groups almost all year round.

Gjøvik gård
Gjøvik gård is a historic oasis in the heart of the city. The main building from the glassworks era is still standing. Step inside and experience the beautiful interiors left behind by the Mjøen family. Hear the stories of Bjørnson’s courtship, the Castberg children’s laws, and why the farm was given as a gift to the town’s residents. Enjoy the historic park, where you will find the playground “Frukthagen” and Norvald café. Every Saturday at 14:00 during school holidays, popular free concerts are held in the courtyard.

Just across the bridge, you can see original Gjøvik glass on display in the entrance area of Vitensenteret Innlandet, located in the old Holmen Distillery.
