Moslifjellet i Strand

Moslifjellet (718 m.o.s.l.) in Ryfylke has the same starting point as Preikestolen, but is higher and has a great view over the Lysefjord, most of outer Ryfylke, the archipelago and towards Stavanger. Why not hiking the both?

If you're really fit, you can probably reach both Moslifjellet and Preikestolen on a round trip. But the hike to Moslifjellet has enough qualities in itself.

Hike description

Follow the Preikestol trail up to the first plateau. Here you will find signs pointing the way to Moslifjellet. The walk through the birch forest follows the lateral moraines of the Lysefjord glacier that once lay here. The last part of the trail is in open mountain terrain. The return hike follows the ridge of the mountain in a southerly direction and you look over towards the Lysefjord.

Back at the car park, we can recommend a swim in Refsvatn - a great sandy beach below Preikestolhytta. Treat yourself to something good at the mountain lodge afterwards!

Important info for the trip

Wear good walking shoes.

Warm clothes - it's often a cold draft at the top, even in summer.

Remember to bring enough water and food.
