Motorsport
Inner Østfold - a centre for motorsport in Norway.
Inner Østfold has been a centre for motorsport in Norway for many years.
Rally drivers Petter and Henning Solberg come from this region, as does former racer Stian Sørlie, and the area has some of the best motor sports facilities in the country.
Rudskogen Motorsenter in Rakkestad has much
more to offer than karting. The facility also has a asphalt track for cars, offering motor sport events, driving tuition and track days when you can have a go yourself.
Rudskogen
The centre has national status and the current shareholders include Michael Schumacher! It will be extended as a potential Formula 1 test track, as well as motocross and enduro tracks within the area. It was offisially opened in 2012.
You can try karting from the age of 7 – it’s the first step towards motor racing. As well as Rudskogen there is also a karting track at Trøgstad.
Another well known arena is the Momarken track at Mysen. Rounds of the European rallycross championship have been held here in the last years, on a track laid out within the horse race track.
International rallycross is reaching new highs and there are more and more Norwegian participants hoping to pick up the baton from Martin Schanche.
You would have to go a long way to find a more exciting spectator sport than rallycross and after last year’s changes to the Momarken track it
will be better for spectators this year than ever before.
Autocross and cross karting events at Momarken are also very popular, giving spectators lots of action to look at.
Inner Østfold has much to offer the motorsport fan – as participant or spectator.
