Details

The Queen of Western Norway, Norway's westernmost 2,000 meters peak! Breogfjell Mountain Guides organize guiding tours to Lodalskåpa all year. Mt. Lodalskåpa is a long trip, but are rewarded with a magnificent view where you really get the feeling of standing on top of the world. The most common period to ascend Lodalskåpa is in spring and early summer when the glacier still have plenty of snow.

Lodalskåpa the spring and summer
We start from the parking lot at Bødal Sætra (mountain farm) in Lodalen Valley. From here we go towards Lake Kåpevatnet and up "Brattebakkanel" (the steep hills) until we reach the glacier. Here we cross the glacier and continue towards Mt. Lodalskåpa with views down to Småttene and towards Hurrungane mountains. Much of the trail we walk in a rope team, and the final part to the top offers some scrambling. The climb is not difficult. When we arrive at the summit, we return down the same road.

Lodalskåpa in winter
In winter / spring it is also possible to make the trip with with Breogfjell on alpine touring skis (Randonne). In good conditions Breogfjell ski down the glacier Bødalsbreen. A unique and exciting form of skiing between the blue ice. This glacier is also in the "Breruta" route wich goes over several days.
