Narvik Museum – Narvik is located on a walking distance of Central square, overlooking the harbour and the downtown of Narvik. The beautiful brick building from 1902 was built for the Administration of the district of the Norwegian Railway Company, is now a place where you can get to know the history of Narvik.
The exhibitions at the Narvik Museum – Narvik are telling among other stories of the Construction and operation of the Ofoten line Railway, the navies who built the railway, the Swedish mining company LKAB and the ice-free harbor of Narvik, to mention some of it.
Everyday life in Narvik is brought to you through the exhibitions and you will see how Narvik has changes as a town during its history. Not only has the population increased, but because of the bombing of the town during Second World War, the buildings have been changed dramatically as well. This year the museum also features an Exhibition about Sami people in the Ofoten region.
