The Nes timber boom was constructed in 1853. The idea was to transport timber down the river Glomma.
The Nes timber boom was constructed in 1853. The idea was to transport timber down the river Glomma. At its peak, around 300 men were employed in timber floating at Nes, and it was an important business and source of extra income for the district. This continued until its closure in 1985.
