The permanent exhibitions span three floors. The ground floor features Belgian architect Henry van de Velde’s specially designed interior from 1907/08, and the Danish architect Finn Juhl's specially designed office, Interior 52.
The upper floor is devoted to Hannah Ryggen’s tapestries and the museum’s large collection of Japanese handicrafts. The latest addition to the collection is a samurai armour from the Edo period.
The museum’s basement features a large exhibition covering the history of design and handicrafts with a strong focus on contemporary art.
