We head out for a full day mountain hike up towards Nordenskioldtoppen – surrounded by the untouched wilderness, across the moraine landscape, glaciers, and polygon field up on the mountain plain. If you are a true mountaineer, this is the trip for you!
Named after the Swedish geologist and polar researcher Adolf Nordenskiöld, Nordenskiöldfjellet peaks at 1050 meters above sea level as a magnificent summiting point for the extra motivated hiker.
The trip is carried out from Longyearbyen, after all the guests have been picked up from their guesthouses/hotels etc and had a briefing with the guide. We head up through the arctic landscape among fossils, river beds and moraines before reaching the fascinating polygon field up on the mountain plain toward Nordenskiöldfjellet.
If there is snow, we use snowshoes, and recommend guests to have well worn-in hiking boots. A warm expedition lunch is included.
