The district’s highest peak, Spåtind, is 1,414 metres above sea level and is located on the border of Nordre Land and Etnedal in Synnfjellet.
The massif towers above its surroundings and boasts fantastic views. On a clear day, you can see Hallingskarvet, Jotunheimen, Dovrefjell, Rondane, Ringebufjell and more.
The peak can be reached from several directions. The paths are easy to walk, particularly from Fjellsætra in the south. Drive past the former mountain inn Hugulia in Nord Torpa, then turn onto the toll road (2013: NOK 30) a few kilometres from Fjellsætra. There are parking facilities at Setervollen on the right side of the road. The route starts in a lane that runs up a steep hill. At the top of the hill, the road forks, with one path leading to Feplassen. Keep to the main path on the right. After a while, you cross the timberline and reach the peak with its wonderful views. The trip is about 6 kilometres one way with a total elevation of 540 metres. The path is partly marked with rocks painted blue.
