Nordskogen Arboretum
Experience a rare tree collection at Campus Ås
Nordskogen in Ås contains one of Norway’s oldest arboretums (tree collections). Around 50 foreign tree species were planted here beginning around 1910. The network of trails makes the area an excellent destination for anyone who wants to enjoy and learn from a walk in the forest. From Nordskogen, the trails lead into the natural gem, Syverud. On this former parsonage property, a nature and culture trail with information boards has been established. The trail guides you through a highly diverse cultural landscape featuring protected natural habitats.
Nordskogen is located on the campus of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). The forest is used as an outdoor classroom for subjects such as forestry, nature management, landscape architecture, botany, and zoology. It is a beautiful recreational area and an important habitat for plant and animal life.
