Norsemen Miniatures

In one of the charming alleyways behind Bryggen, you'll find a truly unique shop: Norsemen Miniatures, Norway's only specialty store for handmade tin soldiers.
Here you'll meet Sigve Solberg, the country's only professional tin soldier maker, who has dedicated his life's work to conveying Norwegian history – in miniature.
The shop and workshop are located at Holmedalsgården 8e, right in the heart of the historic UNESCO-listed Bryggen area. The old timber walls from the 18th century provide a perfect backdrop for the small figures that bring Norwegian history to life. Here you can experience everything from Vikings and the Napoleonic Wars to World War II, His Majesty The King's Guard, and modern Norwegian soldiers – all sculpted by Sigve and painted by hand.
Sigve is passionate about history, and each figure he creates is carefully crafted to reflect both the era and the personality it represents. In the shop, you'll also find Roald Amundsen, the Norwegian polar explorer who was the first to reach the South Pole, and a dedicated section for the Bergen Buekorps – a unique local tradition that is still very much alive today.
When you visit Norsemen Miniatures, there's a good chance you'll see Sigve at his workbench, inspired by the Viking Age and complete with runic inscriptions, designing or painting his tin soldiers. He's always happy to take you on a journey through Norwegian history, sharing stories and details about the figures he has created. Many of the tin soldiers are produced in limited editions, so it's wise to secure your favorite while it's still available.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, a collector, or simply curious about something truly unique - Norsemen Miniatures is well worth a visit when you're in Bergen.
